The Princely House of Liechtenstein has a strong connection to the scout movement by forming the patronage of the Pfadfinder und Pfadfinderinnen Liechtensteins. They support the organization ideational in this function.
Their closeness to the scout movement is also reflected in the fact that the first groups were founded by Prince Franz I. and Princess Elsa. In addition, many members of the Princely House have actively engaged in the Pfadfinder und Pfadfinderinnen Liechtensteins. Prince Emanuel was the Chief Scout of the Fürstlich Liechtensteinisches Pfadfinderkorps St. Georg for 36 years. His successor was Prince Nikolaus, until the two corps merged into a single organization with an elected leadership in 1989. Both are appointed honorary members of the Pfadfinder und Pfadfinderinnen Liechtensteins for their merits.
